Sonnet – Awakening

I was wandering in a world alone lost,
In this world so aloof, so dark, so swart.
A sunshine cold, no life but all in frost.
The nights unbearable, obscure my heart.

A stranger homeless in a frozen world,
Thinking of sunshine of fair spring to come,
My heart craving for light to be impearled,
I died in that night so dark and lonesome.

Dreaming flying o’er mountains neath gold skies,
I was in a world where all is just sweet.
My eyes in tears of gleams that mesmerize,
I kissed that night my love divinely sweet.

I died in that night so dark, so malign,
I woke in heav’n where lives my love divine.
